Hair-Full of Sunshine!

Posted Tuesday 14:38 pm,Apr 17,2012

They say nothing is impossible if you have the will and determination to do it! 18 year old, Milan Karki from Nepal, sure seems to believe in this as he claims that hair (yes, HAIR!) is easy to use as a conductor within the solar panels!

The solar panel can be used to generate and supply electricity in a variety of places, which might someday resolve the problem of electricity cuts!
Solar panels have silicon within them that store energy, silicon being expensive makes the whole instrument high on cost! Hence making the solar panels unaffordable for most of the people! But the Nepalese boy seems to have a solution for this as he asserts that his invention is a new type of solar panel that uses human hair instead of silicon to generate electricity!
The teenager says that he was originally inspired after reading a book by physicist Stephen Hawking that discussed ways of creating static energy from hair. Inspiration is the mother of Invention we say, at least in this case!
Melanin, the pigment which gives our hair its color, can be used in this conversion of energy and likewise serves as a great conductor of electricity and hence the solar panels generate electricity! We hope that this project becomes a huge success and helps in the conservation of the limited natural resources we have, there by benefiting mankind to its best!
